Dr Christine Medical Aesthetics Viscoderm Hydrobooster

What is Viscoderm Hydrobooster?

Viscoderm Hydrobooster is an injectable hyaluronic acid product which improves the skin’s elasticity and radiance, but also helps to smooth superficial fine lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar chain molecule found in skin and throughout the body which acid attracts and binds water in the skin, providing volume and hydration, but also ‘cushions’ and supports collagen and elastin fibres. Viscoderm Hydrobooster is a skin booster, not a filler.

How does Viscoderm Hydrobooster work?

Viscoderm Hydrobooster has dual “hydrostretch” action. It provides deep hydration and bio-stimulation to improve elasticity, radiance and smoothness. It also has a unique stretching effect to reduce superficial wrinkles. Effectively, it works from the inside out, helping to restore the support structures of the skin tissue.

How many treatments are required?

For best results most patients will need two separate treatments spaced 8 weeks apart.  However some patients only need one treatment.

How long does Viscoderm Hydrobooster last?

Viscoderm Hydrobooster lasts approximately 6 months or so. If you choose not to maintain the results with further treatment, your skin will return to its pre-treatment state over time. Generally, patients report an overall improvement in skin hydration and softening of fine lines and wrinkles.

What is Viscoderm Hydrobooster used to treat?

Viscoderm Hydrobooster is recommended if your skin looks dull, dry, lacklustre and you have fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the mouth and eyes and forehead. It is commonly used to treat dynamic areas of the face including:

  • Around the eyes (crow’s feet)

  • Cheek lines

  • Upper lip lines and around the mouth area

  • Forehead lines

Am I suitable for treatment?

Treatment is not recommended if:

  • You are suffering from any skin infection in or near the treatment area or are unwell in any way (even a cold).

  • You are taking any medicines which affect bleeding, such as aspirin or warfarin.

  • You are currently or have recently completed a course of Roacutane (acne treatment) in the last 18 months

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Considerations when choosing your appointment for treatment

There is always a risk of bruising, so please ensure that you do not have any important special events such as holidays, weddings and parties in the week or so after your treatment. Bruising can last up to 2 weeks.

Please avoid any dental treatments, facials, massage and other treatments for at least 2 weeks after treatment.

Preparation before Viscoderm Hydrobooster Treatment

Please avoid alcohol, aspirin, omega fish oil, vitamins C and E, Gingko Biloba and St John’s Wort for at least 24 hours before and for a few days after your appointment, as they can all increase the risk of bleeding and bruising. Purchase arnica tablets and cream which may help to reduce any bruising.

Please come as ‘fresh faced’ as possible with no make-up.

What to expect during your Viscoderm Hydrobooster treatment?

The full procedure can take around an hour. Numbing cream will be applied for around 20 minutes or you will be provided with numbing cream to apply at home 20 minutes before you attend your appointment. The treatment itself involves multiple tiny injections and there is a high risk of bruising. The results are visible immediately and continue to improve over the next few weeks with best results seen at 8 weeks.

We will arrange a review appointment at 8 weeks for the second treatment if needed.
